A New Online Teaching Certificate Program for West Virginia K-12 Teachers

04/03/12 07:56 PM

American Public University System is collaborating with the West Virginia Department of Education to create an online teaching endorsement and certificate program for West Virginia K-12 teachers. This course is designed to help primary and secondary school teachers become better at using online tools to improve student performance.

This program has been launched in line with the federal Department of Education National Education Technology Plan, which called for the expanded use of technology to make the student experience more personalized. The new program will support teachers in both effectively using online tools, and in incorporating them into blended learning environments.

In addition to the online learning certificate, West Virginia teachers can enroll in five other graduate-level APUS courses for professional development. All APUS courses can be applied toward recertification. Teachers may transfer the online certificate credits to either the APUS M.Ed. Teaching – Online Learning concentration or K-12 Online Teaching Endorsement/Certificate.
