Corporate Communications Companies Expanding Collaborative Tools

Polycom Inc. and Avaya Inc., both well-known corporate telecommunications companies, are expanding their support for video conferencing and collaboration. This will make it easier for companies to use their videoconferencing abilities to engage in distance learning.

Polycom’s RealPresence Video product provides secure, high-definition video to the company’s videoconference customers. This product is being used to enhance collaboration across a number of industries, including healthcare, education, government, manufacturing, and retail.  

Meanwhile Polycom’s competitor Avaya is developing cloud based solutions explicitly intended to support online education. The company’s Avaya Collaborative Cloud platform and its AvayaLive Engage collaborative environment are primarily targeted to colleges and universities.

Both companies are responding to the growing need for companies and institutions for in-depth communication that can replicate the in-person meeting.
